LAPIS
瑠璃Two grams of Wako, KSM-66 ashwagandha, Rhodiola SHR-5, ALCAR, L-tyrosine, Bistrica still water, Ston sea-salt rim, fennel pollen dusted last on the meniscus. No milk by design. Served in a coupe at the table. The evening cognitive primer for late dinners and yacht arrivals.
LAPIS is the cocktail-format adaptogen drink and the menu's only no-milk SKU. The format choice is pharmacological, not aesthetic — milk fat slows gastric emptying and delays caffeine and adaptogen absorption by twenty to forty minutes. For an evening primer aimed at a 19:30 yacht arrival or an 18:45 pre-investor dinner, that delay is the wrong curve. Water-base puts the stack on a 5-7 minute onset.
The stack is calm-energy, not stim-energy. KSM-66 ashwagandha 300mg standardised to 5% withanolides is the adaptogen of record — Chandrasekhar's 2012 RCT showed a 27.9% serum cortisol reduction at 300mg twice daily over 60 days, and Salve 2019 confirmed the stress-and-sleep dual-axis benefit. Rhodiola SHR-5 150mg (3% rosavins, 1% salidroside, the proprietary Swedish Herbal Institute extract used in the Olsson and Darbinyan trials) addresses mental fatigue without the wired-tired aftermath of straight caffeine. ALCAR 200mg crosses the blood-brain barrier where standard L-carnitine cannot, supporting mitochondrial fatty-acid transport and a subtle body-warming effect on the descending palate. L-tyrosine 100mg is the catecholamine precursor — Deijen's 1999 cold-stress cognition work and Mahoney's military-stress trials show acute working-memory protection under load.
The Adriatic theatre is the salt rim and the pollen. Ston sea salt — harvested 150km up the coast at the same 1,300-year-old Pelješac salt pans Diocletian's stewards used — applied as a half-rim only, so the drinker chooses whether to crack through it. Fennel pollen dusted across the meniscus with a fine-mesh sieve — Tuscan wild fennel pollen, harvested by the kilo not the leaf, costs more by gram than gold and tastes of anise and warm citrus. Bay leaf cold-infused in the Bistrica for twelve hours adds a thread of camphor under the rhodiola. The rest of the drink is pharmacology in a coupe. The matcha stays at 2g Wako, lower than DRIFT, because the adaptogen weight needs room to read on the palate. Caffeine lands at 90mg — slightly higher than a milk-based equivalent because no fat slows absorption — placing LAPIS at the upper edge of evening tolerance for the matcha-native consumer.

- 20mlBay leaf cold infusion— fresh Laurus nobilis, 12h cold-infused in Bistrica at 5C
Wet half the coupe rim with bay-leaf infusion and roll in Ston sea salt — half-rim only. Whisk 2g Wako with 30ml hot Bistrica at 70C, 300mg KSM-66, 150mg Rhodiola SHR-5, 200mg ALCAR, and 100mg L-tyrosine to a smooth paste. Stir slowly into 180ml chilled Bistrica plus 20ml bay-leaf infusion in a mixing glass. Pour into coupe over a single 4cm clear ice sphere. Dust 0.2g fennel pollen across the meniscus through a fine-mesh sieve. Do not stir at the table.
Cold tencha grass, faint root-vegetable undertone from KSM-66, a thin botanical lift from the Rhodiola, no sweetness in the nose.
Sharp matcha umami arrival uncushioned by milk, immediate herbal weight from ashwagandha-rhodiola at the mid-palate, a savoury-mineral midline from the ALCAR and tyrosine.
Long, dry, slightly bitter from the Rhodiola salidroside, a faint warming note in the throat from the ALCAR. Gold has no flavour but extends the visual ritual by twenty seconds.
Crystalline. Water-thin body, almost saline, ice sphere holds the temperature for the full 30-minute drinking window. The drink is engineered to refuse cream.
The compounds. The mechanism. The dose-response.
Four-vector evening primer engineered for 5-7 minute onset on an empty or near-empty stomach, no milk fat to slow gastric emptying. (1) KSM-66 ashwagandha 300mg modulates the HPA axis via GABAergic activity at the hypothalamic level, reducing serum cortisol by ~28% in Chandrasekhar 2012 at 300mg BID. (2) Rhodiola SHR-5 150mg acts on monoamine neurotransmission and the stress-induced JNK pathway. Olsson 2009 showed significant fatigue reduction in physicians on night-shift at 144mg/day SHR-5. (3) ALCAR 200mg — BBB-permeable acetyl ester of L-carnitine, transports long-chain fatty acids into mitochondria, supports acetylcholine synthesis as an acetyl donor. (4) L-tyrosine 100mg — direct precursor to dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine. Deijen 1999 demonstrated working-memory protection under stress.
KSM-66 efficacy plateau begins at 300mg BID — single 300mg in LAPIS gives acute anxiolytic benefit without sedation. Rhodiola SHR-5 shows inverted-U dose response: 100-200mg optimal. ALCAR is well-tolerated to 2g/day; 200mg is a maintenance dose. L-tyrosine 100mg is sub-clinical alone but synergistic with the rhodiola-caffeine vector for acute focus.

Who orders this. When. Why.
Forty-five, German, 32m motoryacht just docked at Porto Montenegro after a six-hour run from Hvar. Owner wants to walk to dinner at 20:15 fresh, not crash. LAPIS arrives in a coupe via crew tender at 19:30 — coupe set on the table, salt half-rim catching the marina light, fennel pollen settling, 5-minute onset means he is sharp by the time his shoes hit the marble at the restaurant. No milk in the stomach before a tasting menu.
Thirty-eight, MA7CHA's most demanding subscriber, has a 19:30 dinner with a Munich family office at Regent. Needs the KSM-66 cortisol shave and the tyrosine-caffeine acuity for a numbers conversation. LAPIS is on her terrace by 18:40, she drinks it standing in the bedroom while choosing earrings. By the time the car arrives at 19:15 the stack is at peak.
Thirty-one, Russian, finished a 90-minute lift at the Tivat private gym, going into a 19:00 architect call about the villa renovation. Needs ALCAR for the post-training mitochondrial reset, KSM-66 to bring the cortisol down from the workout, tyrosine and matcha for the cognitive switch into a Russian-language technical negotiation.
Where it comes from.
matcha terroirWako, 2g — lower leaf load than AOI or DRIFT because the adaptogen stack carries the body of the drink and matcha needs room to read clean rather than dominant. We tested at 2.5g and 3g; both flattened the rhodiola and ashwagandha into the matcha midline. 2g is the floor where Wako's umami still threads above the herbal weight.
adriatic elementsBistrica still water at the source — same Boka spring that runs through MU, used here as the structural medium rather than a supporting note. The directional ice sphere is hand-cut from a Clinebell block by Sasa at the Tivat fish-restaurant prep room, frozen at 04:00 daily. The Ston salt arrives in 500g linen sacks every quarter — same Pelješac salinas that supplied the Republic of Ragusa for six centuries. Fennel pollen from a small Tuscan operation outside Pienza. Bay laurel grows on the hillside above the Bradasevo kitchen — fresh leaves for the cold infusion are picked the morning of service.

Mornings, empty-stomach first thing, anyone caffeine-sensitive past 17:00. LAPIS is the evening cognitive primer — running it before 16:00 wastes the curve.
Dominika Miłobędzka black-glaze coupe, hand-painted cobalt-slip anchor on the foot, 250ml
LAPIS is built around the coupe — no PET delivery, table service only, the matte black glaze frames the fennel-pollen dusting and the single ice sphere reads as a clean sphere through the dark interior. The cobalt-slip anchor on the foot is hand-painted in iron-oxide cobalt at 1200C reduction, a quiet nautical mark only the drinker tipping the coupe ever sees.
Green oat-matcha base, 500mg lion's mane fruiting body, 100mg phosphatidylserine, 80mg Suntheanine, butterfly pea cold infusion floated as a cobalt halo through clear PET. The drink is the wordmark. You see #0000FF before you taste anything.
Four grams Wako, lion's mane fruiting body 8:1 at 750mg, KSM-66 ashwagandha, ALCAR, CDP-choline, 7,8-DHF (experimental BDNF-mimetic, disclosed), pterostilbene, MCT C8, L-theanine, 0.2g activated charcoal that turns the column teal-black through clear PET. The deepest stack on the menu. Engineer's SKU.
Twenty-five grams whey isolate, 4g Wako, creatine monohydrate, citrulline malate, BCAA 2:1:1, and a measured electrolyte triad in 280ml chilled Bistrica. Cold-shaken, no sweetener, matcha-coloured. Post-workout fuel for the SIRO Boka 8am crowd, dosed by a chemist not a marketer.
